All I can say is, I wish Goodreads had a vocal option to talk about a book. I absolutely loved this book. I don’t really have words to describe how much this book meant to me. There was love, action, killing, the most importantly, the power of friendship and hope This book has not received the hypo that deserves. I think that this book went onto so many levels that people need to explore you’re gonna laugh they’re gonna cry. They’re gonna do everything and I certainly hope that this gets added to everyone’s 2025 Book books to read. I am so excited to share this book with my friends because I think that everyone will learn to love this book so much. This is a great book for people that maybe don’t literary fiction but love murder mystery true crime, coming of age everything in so I just think it’s a great book. This is why you need voice reviews! I can’t say enough good things about this. I would say this is probably in my top 10 favorite books of all times at this moment.

highly disappointing. Much preferred We Begin at the End by same author.
this dragged on, was redundant in spots and took forever to resolve. LOTS of editing errors and even geographical ones (palmetto trees do NOt grow in mountains!! they're a seaside tree hahah).

This story is at times rich and compelling — and it had to be, because it was so. long. At several points I was frustrated with how drawn out the story became. When I was about 40% through listening to it I assumed it was nearing the end and that was quite a surprise when I actually saw how much progress I’d made. It is a good story, but there were points when I considered not finishing it and just looking up a summary to find out what happened because it kept looping over on itself and dragging on in a pretty melodramatic way. Overall it’s a great story and I’m sure the eventual adaptation will be excellent, but they’ll need computers to keep actors the same age long enough to produce the entire thing. The point docked was for the frustration at the need for tighter plotting, less melodrama, and more editing.

I laughed, cried and spanned from 1975-2001 with Saint and Patch. Twists and turns, love, hope, grief and so much more that you just have to read to understand the impact the characters will have on you.  Beautiful and heart filled!

I really wanted to like this book, but it was slow and overwhelmingly sad.  It's a story about hope, but all the trauma and tragedy was too much for me.

I loved this book. I enjoyed the way the story developed and how the conflict was resolved. So many times story endings just tumble out and I’m left feeling rushed or cheated as to how the author ties things up. Whitaker does a great job of continuing the character development and resolution until the end!
