Oh, this book! I loved Whitaker's pervious novel, We Begin At the End, so I went into this with high expectations and he completely surpassed them. Easily the best book I've read this year and it's also going straight into my list of favourite books of all time. I absolutely adored it and was slowing myself down towards the end because I didn't want to let it go. Go and read it right now, everyone!

This pulls you right in, the descriptions are so rich but the chapters are short so it really hooks you. All the characters are so layered and the writing is stunning. It doesn’t hold your hand but allows you to piece things together. I was a little confused in some places and it took a long time to get where it was going then wrapped up very fast. Still one of my top reads this year.
