What a book! The twists and turns, the beauty, the heartbreak, the storytelling! I will read this story again and again and probably take something else away from it each time.

If it wasn’t so long I’d read it again to pick up all the small things I likely missed.

This book seemed to stretch on endlessly, leaving me with a sense of overhype. While I found the nostalgic glimpses into the main female character’s childhood to be engaging, the remainder of the narrative fell short of my expectations. I appreciate a book that evokes sadness throughout, but this one unfortunately did not resonate with me as I had hoped.

In the acknowledgements the author explains he writes very slowly. To me this was very evident in the meandering, endless telling-of-the-tale in this book.
This novel had glowing reviews from many people but, although I slogged through to the end, it really was not my cup of tea. The author did create some interesting characters, I thought Sammy the art gallery owner was a very interesting character. Saint, the main detective in the book is also an interesting character. But both are submerged in the long descriptions of various road trips virtually all over the United States. To the point where the reader can no longer remember why the character is going there, or even where they are going.
It is a tale of a serial murderer but it is woven so loosely, with so many tangential distractions and directions it is difficult to hold on to the thread, or even retain one's interest in the story...

I liked the first 100 pages, then it became very boring.

My spoiler isn’t really a plot spoiler, but it’s why I rated the book so low.

I hate when a book written by a man makes the female characters one dimensional and obsessed with the main male character.

It was also so long and boring.
