I really wanted to love this book because I loveedd Eat Your Heart Out, but it just wasn’t for me. Don’t get me wrong, the twist is interesting, but not interesting enough to save the rest of the plot for me. The scariest part of this book was the high school friendship drama.

Terrible composition, unlikable characters, weird timeline and unbelievable plot. Just not for me.

2 stars for the vibes and 1 for the cover. The characters were pretty boring and flat

This book is really hard for me to write a review without spoiling the whole plot of the story. Just trust me when I say while this book gets little slow in the middle for about 50 pages or so just push through. The ending is worth it.

The blurb for this book sounds amazing. Horror! Dracula! Spooky houses! Cahses! Scares! Video!

Sadly, for me, the story didn't live up. I didn't feel like we got to know anyone apart from Alex, and I didn't think much of her - she kept letting her boyfriend walk all over her because he was so *nice* and *perfect*. It takes a long time to get to the haunted castle, and once we get there everything is breakneck with no breaks at all.

I'm not a big fan of a media res setting like the one we had here; I find it lessens the tension, as we know certain characters survive or don't, and cutting back to it tends to lose all the tension we're building up in scenes. That's just my opinion though, I know that other people will have other opinions.

Not for me, but I'm sure others will enjoy it.

I don't believe this author even looked at the Wikipedia page about Romania. Obnoxiously under-researched and superficial narrative.

all reviews in one place: night mode reading; skaitom nakties rezimu

About the Book: Her and her friends dreamed to remake Dracula. Shine new, modern light on the allegory, make it more appealing for the modern viewer. But wishes and means don’t always come together, and so she had to abandon this dream, bitterly, not without what seemed to be a knife or two in her back. But fates had plans for the young woman, it seems, as her path crosses that of a famous actor who soon offers both equipment and a place for them to shoot their movie. Her cousin owns a literal Dracula castle, all they need to do is get there. And so, this proverbial bunch of Harkers, make their way to a mysterious place that’ll become the nightmare of their lives.

My Opinion: While a known story: a bunch of people enter some kind of place, where electricity comes and goes, and there’s no cell service of any kind, all the while something or someone hunts them – it was refurbished good enough to not be boring. It’s everything else that got in the way. Extremely two-dimensional characters who had neither rhyme nor reason for their actions, and not quite smooth writing, jumping back and forth jarringly between what was happening in the castle, and a statement with the police. This bit was horribly unnecessarily, as all it did was provide predictability factor to the story. Overall, if you like these kinds of tales, this wasn’t bad. Otherwise, if you’re indifferent – weight your options first.
