I thoroughly enjoyed this. In a short, beautifully drawn story, Ostertag has created a sympathetic and thoughtful story about gender and identity. She treats the topic with respect and shows how gendered expectations damage kids, forcing them to deny their true selves. This book features a diverse cast of characters, is richly symbolic, and deeply felt. I look forward to more from this author.

Cute and meaningful without being over the top about it. There isn't too much depth, but there's a lot of heart. The artwork is full of wonderful details.
