I couldn't help but feel a resemblance to Stephen King's short story Jerusalem's Lot. Written in journal format, you are taking one man's take on reality.
I had goosebumps as I began to read, and regretted starting it right before bed. I didn't sleep soundly that night. Even without ever knowing the character's name, you find yourself being drawn into his delusions... or what you hope are simply his delusions.
