While romance was sweet, the main conflict didn't work for at all.

Even better the second time around, this time as an audiobook.
This book deals with a woman coming out of an emotionally abusive relationship. It's heavy, it makes you very angry at times but what I love about Jimenez writing is her ability to create brilliant character arcs. I eyeballed this book first and I just finished the audiobook. I highly suggest giving the audiobook a chance!

Love, love, love. My heart was smiling the entire book.

I adored ~Duluth Trading Co Daniel~ (how I imagine him) and Alexis’s character growth. Bri’s one liners had me laughing out loud, and the story had me crying by the end. Just sexy and romantic enough to be possibly my favorite romcom of all time!

Finally a romance book where all the characters are emotionally mature (maybe not emotionally healthy but that's a part of the story!)

I wanted to savour this book and read it slowly but I couldn't wait to see how it ends!
I'm proud of Alexis and her choices – going against something you've known your whole life must feel wrong, even if you rationally know it's the right thing to do. Daniel was an interesting character, and a breath of fresh air.
I was rooting for them so hard!

The writing was good, the plot made a lot of sense, the pacing was nice, the chemistry was through the roof, there was a (kind of) real-life dilemma for the characters, some of the topics were heavy.. This book had it all.

I wish I could forget it and experience it all over again.

Not sure if it's because of my slump but I couldn't really get into this book. I did not really care for the romance. It was a bit instalovey which I never enjoy. And everything was so predictable. From the very beginning, it was clear how this book would end and I guessed correctly.
SpoilerI read two books from Abby Jimenez now and both have a pregnancy trope at the end... I really hope not all of her books have this because I hate this trope and especially in this book it was so unnecessary.

The only thing I really liked was Daniel and the small town vibes. The things Daniel would do or say! He's just so sweet. I also like Abby Jimenez's writing. Although I didn't love the two books I've read from her, I think they are great palate cleansers and would read more from her!

I binged this in a day and I'm sure I'll forget everything I read in a few days honestly. Wasn't very memorable.

*****

Would I recommend this to others? No, but I won't stop anyone from reading either.
Would I reread this? No
Do I regret reading this? No
Is this book forgettable? Yes

Such a great book. Jimenez addresses domestic violence in a very educational way, I loved the actual references to what therapy can do for someone in that situation. I also liked how Jimenez showed what a good relationship looked like versus a bad one. Each characters own perception of themselves was not the complete picture, and the reader learns the truth about everyone from bits and pieces through their actions. Truly well written. I can’t wait to read the next one!
