The amount of times she referred to the 28 year old man as a child drove me a bit crazy. I get there’s an age gap, but as someone in their mid-twenties, it was a bit annoying. My only complaint, otherwise absolutely adorable and emotional story.

Alexis, an ER doctor with sophisticated city-girl vibes and ultra-wealthy and controlling parents, has her world turned upside down when a raccoon runs her off the road as she's driving through a small-town on her way home. Daniel, a ridiculously handsome carpenter and the town's mayor, comes to her rescue. They live completely different lives. And yet after a wild bet and a gourmet grilled-cheese sandwich their chemistry in undeniable. Yet letting their relationship become anything more than a short-term fling would mean turning her back on her family and giving up the opportunity to help thousands of people.

I went into Part of Your World attempting to keep my expectations in check. I'd seen all of the glowing reviews and best-of-the-year lists, but I also knew my tastes. The romance genre remains one I'm extremely picky about as I need plot depth and not just a HEA. Overall, I really enjoyed this book and couldn't put it down.

The small town setting absolutely captured my heart - the rural setting, the people, the sense of community - all of it. Daniel was so swoon worthy, coming across generous, caring and kind. Heck, I was invested as soon as the baby goat was introduced. Alexis' character development from start to end was refreshing. Being narrated in split POVs really allowed me to get into both main characters' heads. And the cast of supporting characters, from Daniel's friends (Doug, Brian and Liz) to Alexis’s best friend, Bri, really shone bright.

While I loved so much about this book, the romance came off a little too insta-lovey for my tastes. There were also parts that were a little over-the-top dramatic (the gala scene at the end anyone?), yet I didn't mind. I absolutely loathed Alexis' father (the author's intent) to the point I wanted to skip his scenes. And of course, the lack of communication grated on me at times, even though I know it played a central role in the unfolding of the plot.

I came away pleasantly surprised by Part of Your World and look forward to exploring more of Abby Jimenez's work. I'm pleased to learn some of the side characters will be getting their own stories in upcoming releases. I like my romance with depth, and this one certainly delivers.

Guys, I did it. I finally found a romance worthy of 5 stars. So. Cute. I. Could. Die.
I loved everything about this. I read it in one sitting, stayed up until 2am to finish because I couldn’t go to bed during the inevitable third act fallout and needed, really NEEDED, to see the happy ending. Wholesome and adorable with the perfect amount of spice. And an adorable mess of a deaf dog. What’s not to love?
