The first 50-150 pages could have been condense to like 20 max and the rest of the 400+ pages could've been used to actually build up the characters' relationship... and show the MMC's personality. I feel like he is a total mystery compared to most other Mariana Zapata love interests. The side characters in this book were really awesome! The family dynamic was a total chef's kiss, but I just felt like the MMC was under-developed as well as the main relationship.

The epilogue was really sweet, and it really cemented to me that we knew the side characters 10x better than the main two.

The plot and main 'conflict' was fairly realistic, and the character development through that was fun. I think the start of the book was just too slow and unnecessary. It wasn't my least favorite of her books, but the drag at the start is why it's not one of my favorites.

I'd recommend this to those who like second chance romances, parenting/having a child in the book, no 3rd act breakups, amazing family side characters.

I don’t think this is a spoiler because it’s revealed about 15% of the way into the book, it’s literally the point of the book, and it might be a deal breaker for some readers: this is a baby daddy second chance romance. Lenny gets ghosted and then discovers she is pregnant, and this is the story of Jonah’s return to their lives. I love a Mariana Zapata book, and this was so well written, but I’m not fan of these genres. I loved Lenny’s character! She was unapologetically tough and not very feminine, and she never had a makeover or tried to change herself to attract a man. Women like this exist in the world and so do the men who love them, and it’s so great to read about women who don’t change themselves for guys. And grandpa Gus wasn’t a cheesy grumpy grandpa, and he had so much depth and back story that he was a wonderful addition.
