This is my favourite Warhammer 40,000 horror story. And one of the few 40k books I might recommend to folks who are not already into the setting. Simply because how well executed it is as a book.
Writing a good horror book seems to be quite hard. But Mr. Fehervari pulls it of masterfully, combining gothic and cosmic horror. Toss in the 40k setting with its own brand of horror, madness and superstition, and you will be kept on your toes wondering where one ends and the other begins.
Featuring some interesting characters, quite stringent storytelling, and flavourful prose, this is a really well crafted and entertaining read.

I’m trying to give less 5 stars this year, so 4* will be for something I really liked, and 5* for something truly exceptional.
5* for this lovecraftian tinged masterpiece. I didn’t realise there was a Fehervari-verse in 40K (the Dark Coil, since you ask), but now I shall be reading all of them.
Not your standard 40K by a long shot.

I think this was an excellent gothic with a ting of horror take on the Warhammer 40K universe. I loved the incredible cast of character, settings, and overall plot. Definitely I book I will reread in the future!
