Read an excerpt, it was okay, I personally don't like these stories, that's another thing.

Thanks to NetGalley for providing an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review!

3.5 stars.

After being hooked by the excerpt, I knew I had to read this! I’m very glad I did. This was a great story about loss, love, friendship, and life. There were a few points where the plot was thin, but overall, I very much enjoyed learning about these characters and connecting to them. I LOVED Olivia, especially as a fellow tinkerbell lover! I also cried through the entirety of the last few pages because it was so sweet and heartfelt. Honestly, the last two chapters were the best part of the book!

Review based on an excerpt only:
Interesting premise for a story of four women who have come together as they have lost loved ones to cancer. Their friendship develops through mutual losses and grief, and they offer support on many levels. These characters are believable, and the story holds the potent for an explanatory of friendship and hope through difficult times. I look forward to reading the complete book when it is released.

TW: Parental death

Four friends met in the cafeteria while their parents received chemotherapy. Now, after after the last funeral, three band together to try to help the youngest of their group grieve in her own way.

Along the way, dogs are adopted and new romantic relationship is formed with a parent of a new student.

Review:

I really wanted to love this book. It had everything I thought I needed right now: a book set in Anchorage, Alaska, a group of friends coming together to help one another and a cute romance. It was a quick read that I enjoyed sitting down with.

I liked that plot points with the friends helping each other grieve and helping Bridget with her animal shelter dog adoption event.

However, I did not enjoy that the author used Bridget as a plot device to screw up the relationship between Trent and Amy. I also didn't like that the end of the book seemed hastily thrown together.

I would be interested in reading the second book if this becomes a series to see where the characters go.

This excerpt was a cute little story about how four friends- Amy, Nichole, Hazel and Bridget- formed a bonding friendship while dealing with their hard situations at a hospital. I look forward to reading the full book when it is released. Thank you for the opportunity to read and review this excerpt.

This review is based on an excerpt of the novel. The full novel will be published in March 2020.

This might be a really lovely novel. The excerpt introduces four friends who met at a cancer ward and lost a loved one to cancer. Amy, the main character, is struggling quite hard after losing her mother to cancer, especially since the disease changed her mother's personality.

It's a book about grief, about rebuilding your life after you have lost an important person in your life.

***I received this ebook from NetGalley****

This is the story of four women - Bridget, Amy, Hazel and Nichole - who met while each had a parent in the cancer ward of the local hospital. During that time, they started the Sunday Potluck Club which would be hosted at one woman's home weekly and everyone else would need to bring something.

Amy recently lost her mom and is getting ready to get back to work as a second-grade teacher. One of her students is extremely withdrawn when she arrives as a new student to the school. Bridget volunteers at a local animal shelter and decides to do a Valentine's Day Adoption Event.

For the most part, the book seems to revolve around Amy and Bridget's stories while Hazel and Nichole are interspersed throughout. It was a good, quick, lighthearted read once you get past the first 50 pages or so.

This felt like the kind of Hallmark movie I don't enjoy watching. Too corny even for me.

Thank you NetGalley for letting me read this one. This was such a sweet book about overcoming loss and finding friendship in the hardest of times (From what I could make out in the excerpt)! What better way to find love than over food? The Sunday Potluck Club has the makings of a lovely movie (I'd love to watch it). Such a lovely read and I cannot wait for the full book to be available!
