The story is a 5-star tale. The art choice is such a weird juxtaposition that for me it costs a star. They simply tell different tales and it jarred the entire way. It'd be like having Frazetta provide the interiors for THE KITE RUNNER. Very distracting, pulling away from what truly is an awesomely delightful story of terrible darkness. Grim darkness that is not grimdark. A protagonist who is 'no fucking hero' except when he is. Bloody, very bloody, and terrific battles and moments of inspiring emotions from brotherly love to faith to loyalty to hate to desire to love.
This book kept me reading for long periods and returning each day as soon as able. THAT is good storytelling of a tale well-told. I truly look forward to the next installment.
