I enjoyed it for the most part -- I chuckled at the part where Troy said that he always thought Sloane was the one that was holding a candle for Dean and not vice versa. All in all solid 4 hours spent on audiobook but the ending was blah - I had lost interest and really just wanted the story to get the fuck over with, is all.
To quote another reviewer, I will add --> This is the kind of GFY that risks the unfortunate implication of bi-erasure. I can give benefit of the doubt that Sloane has an intensely demisexual interest in Dean, which to the author’s credit is strongly established by the way the two interact, but I was a little bit taken aback by how very “not gay” Sloane is in every other possible context. from Michael S. (down below).
If you need a happy, quick, pick me up, I would recommend it.

Really enjoyed this, will be keeping my eye out for more from this author.
A bit abrupt at the end, but I really loved this essentially 'gay for you' military romance
I thought the author did an excellent job of establishing just how close the two men were in their friendship.
The crisis point also worked well for me as the catalyst for their relationship changing and it felt believable throughout
I'd have liked a bit more after they'd got together just to see how everyone else dealt with the situation.

OOOOooo! I loved this! Made me feel so good. I was expecting a little humorous romp between friends but what I got was this absolute lovely book about friends to lovers with a considerable amount of emotional depth.
"I can’t let that all get ruined because of some stupid crush, because of one goddamn drunken night where I was an idiot. I don’t care what it takes, Sloane. I’ll do whatever it takes to make it up to you. I don’t have anyone, I never had any family, I lost my team, and I can’t lose you too.” What made this so good was the very real friendship between Sloane and Dean. Awesome writing - so much awesomeness that I bumped the other books in the series up my tbr. Great secondary characters. Captured the mundaneness and boredom of military life. Liked that the subtleness of the issues that Dean was facing. So it looks like we get a book about Marco. Yayy! I just loved this book. Made me smile and forget the mess surrounding me.
