The it girl was an overall compelling read with a twist I didn’t expect but that didn’t shock me either. Overall that was how I felt about the book. It used thriller elements in a compelling way but not a unique one. But it was still a good read, I just wasn’t on the edge of my seat. I didn’t love the protagonist, she felt kind of bland. I did love April and November. As well as Emily and some of the other supporting characters.

I don't think I would have enjoyed this as much in physical format, but the audiobook was a great ride. I'm a sucker for nonlinear narrative so I was a bit sad when, halfway through, the before timeline ended and it was all present time. Was the main character a little annoying? Sure, but I think it was accurate for the circumstances. The ending felt a bit rushed
