I love this book! The audiobook and the voice actors are prefect! I couldn’t put this book down! Read it in 2 days. I appreciated hearing the struggle that immigrants face. Loved rom com references.

The writing was too clunky. I was being told more than I was being showed, and nothing flowed cohesively.
I unfortunately did not enjoy being in the head of the protagonist, even though based on the premise of the book, I thought I would relate to her in some ways. She read as too immature for her age for me to enjoy.
I didn’t get far enough into the romance aspects, aside from them having a one night stand after randomly meeting (which I have no problem with). But then she immediately falls pregnant by accident and then their “romance” supposedly goes from there, which I know I won’t enjoy. Without that pregnancy, there was nothing that would have kickstarted a relationship between them, so the “romance” feels forced right off the bat.

Overall, once it was revealed that she was pregnant, I lost interest and I was forcing myself to pick it back up again.

3.6 rounded up to 4 for the ending. It’s a quick read and enjoyable.

This was a solid 3.5 stars. Loved the story of being a young immigrant and navigating a new country while maintaining the culture of the country you're from. I wish we had seen more of the relationship between Azere and Rafael.

"Sentenced to live cautiously and love selectively," a good Nigerian-Canadian girl must decide if she follows her heart or her mother's commands to only date within their culture.

A sweet love story but not particularly striking.
