Frighteningly Realistic

There are so many elements to this that could be real that the book takes on a new element of suspense and fear. There are some conspiracy theories with background in facts, there is abuse, trauma, assault, and there’s plenty of science. The science is what got me hooked on this series and it continues to hold up.

If you’re a fan of This Podcast Will Kill You, or any murder podcast type show… you’ll like this book. It has nothing to do with podcasts but the content relates.

This book and the book before it, about the same character, are hard reading for me, since I'm not sure I understand even half of what the character is thinking. Of course the character has a way of thinking that makes him what he is and gives him the ability to see thing differently than most of us so my not understanding him isn't a complaint. I enjoyed the book, despite the violence, since the violence was meant to stop more violence. I wouldn't mind reading more books about Theo Cray's work in the future, as he does what he thinks needs to be done, while having to compromise his values along the way. Thanks to Thomas & Mercer and NetGalley for this ARC in return for an honest review.

This one didn’t capture me quite like The Naturalist did, but I still liked it very much.

Another page turner. I really enjoy his books. Keeps the plot moving and ends each chapter in a way that makes you want to keep going.

Another enjoyable book from The Naturalist series. I really like the main character & am looking forward to more of these books.

This was actually very entertaining. I’m always wary of books of this type - crime, too smart for his own good protagonists, serial killers, intrigue, etc. But this was done well. I was entertained and kept with it steadily. I read the first one too and I might like this one better. Maybe...

Good, but not as fast- paced and thrilling as the first book. Also wish the killer was more fleshed out.
