What a weird book...It's like a crossover of 50 Shades and Pride and PRejudice with none of the finesse of Jane Austen but also none of the rapey vibes of 50 Shades so like lose win? Idk. I weirdly enjoyed it because the smut was so freaky but also was deeply grossed out because of how overbearingly boorish and hypermasculine the romantic lead was. But I thought the pair was well suited in working through their issues together. It was a fun brainless read.

This is not a dual POV book. The entire book is told from Joss’s perspective, and I’m still mad about it. Given the wording of the book blurb I feel like I was tricked out of Braden’s perspective. Especially since his perspective would have been so much more emotionally satisfying.
I am beyond grateful for the scenes we got between Joss and her therapist. Without seeing Joss actively seeking help I easily would have hated her. She has had a life of trauma and it was a hugely relief to see such a beaten down character actually seek help. The scenes with the therapist are chronological, but don’t always match completely with the chronology of the story which I actually liked once I realized what was happening.
The sex scenes in this are good. Super good. The first time Braden and Joss have sex is on of the best sex scenes I’ve ever read.
