*I received an ARC from Netgalley in exchange of an honest review*

If I could make a book a movie this would be it. I wish I were joking, but I love this book with all my heart, and this is something I was not expecting to say. From the get-go, Ashely is as annoying as can be, and I expected to really dislike her. But you start seeing who she really is through that tough exterior she puts on and you can't help but fall in love with her.

She's hurting and doesn't believe she can be loved after she did something terrible to her aunt and never was given her parents' love, but rather used as a pawn for their benefit. She ruins her life, not because she wants to be a villain but because she believes that's the only way the world will ever see her. Until she meets the swoony Gabriel Sinclair.

He's tough, with his own skeletons in the closet, and wants more than anything to gain the approval of his uncle (even though he's dead) because he helped him get the life he has. Ashley is not in his plan, but after being caught by the paparazzi with her lipstick smeared on his lips at Ashley's cousin's wedding, they enter a fake relationship to make him edgier and for Ashley to hopefully land a role as her money is dwindling after becoming the villain in a reality TV show.

They shouldn't work, since they're so different on paper, but they truly are two people with similar pasts who went down two different paths. He tried to change himself and prove to people his past did not define him, while she believed that her past defined her and became complacent in it all.

Ashley and Gabe grow so much on you as the book continues, and I can't imagine one person who doesn't relate to these two in some way. The sex is hot, albeit a bit much of the relationship. But by the end, you can't help but wait for them to get together and live their happily ever after.

A breath of fresh air. Genuinely can't rave about this enough.

Easily my favorite book of the series, and I loved the first two! So much goodness—golden boy movie star meets reality TV show villain, enemies-ish to lovers, road trip, and fake dating (in a realistic and not annoying way). I liked that the FMC was different than the typical romance heroine without falling into caricature. Plus, who doesn’t love a truly epic grovel when the MMC realizes how thoroughly he has screwed up? Here

Do you love redemption stories? Then The Villain Edit by Sarah Brenton is the book for you! Ashley Foley is a villain through and through or is that just how tv has portrayed her to be? Gabriel Sinclair is Hollywood’s golden boy who just landed a huge new role that is much edgier than the roles he is used to.

Ashley and Gabe’s lives collide when her attempt to seduce her cousin’s new husband lands them in a scandal! The solution is a fake dating scheme. This will hopefully roughen up Gabe‘s image for his new role while softening up Ashley’s. A few PR paparazzi shoots, social media posts, and a cross country road trip, and then they can forget about each other and go back to their lives. But is it really that simple?

This book was a great read, and I loved the FMC character development. I love the dual point of view and it really helped me understand the characters and their feelings throughout the book Ashley and Gabe’s story sucked me in and I could not stop reading it!

Thank you Net Gallery and Sarah Brenton for letting me read this arc copy of The Villain Edit. It comes out January 16!

This read was both packed and steamy from start to end! The writing was strong and I didn’t feel like I especially missed anything by not reading the other books in the series, though this one has peaked my interest in them.

I loved the premise, and the road trip and drama kept me engaged and looking for more titles like this one! I’m recommending this not only to readers who want a fun and spicy read, but to my friends who would adore the plot and dynamic between the characters.

Thank you again for the ARC and the introduction to this author, Victory Editing and NetGalley, it is much appreciated and I enjoyed the read and the opportunity to share my feedback.

The Villain Edit is the third book in the Over the Top Love series, but it can be read as a standalone.

I really didn’t like Ashley in the beginning of the book, but I guess I wasn’t supposed to. She definitely went through a lot though, and she had so much growth.

Gabriel was supposed to be the good guy, and he was fake dating Ashley (for his own reasons, not to help her). But he was an a**hole to her, and I really hated him.

Honestly, I love a fake dating romance, but this was not my favorite. Ashley got better, but I wish she made Gabriel grovel more. Sure she wasn’t the best person in the beginning, but she changed, and she didn’t deserve the way he treated her.

Despite not really liking the story or the characters, I also couldn’t stop reading this. I had to know what was going to happen next, so it did keep my interest.

Thank you so much to the author and Netgalley for providing an advanced copy of this! All thoughts and opinions are still my own.

I've really enjoyed this series over all! I was skeptical going into book 1, but was thoroughly impressed with the series as a whole.

This was definitely my least favorite in the trilogy. But I think that's based more on personal romance preferences than the book itself.

I'm not big on the fame trope and this one deals heavily with fame. I just don't usually enjoy the exploration of the spotlight or media influence. So the plot of this one just wasn't my favorite.

However, if you're a reality tv fan or do enjoy discussions of fame, I think there were a lot of things packed into this one - from the standards women are held to versus men, socioeconomic bias, and parasocial behaviors.

I'm so glad I found this author and I can't wait to see what she releases next!
