First: I love Lemony Snicket and this confirms that Handler is a great writer because this book still has an amazing prose while being something different then Series of Unfortunate Events or All the Wrong Questions.
Second. I am sick of break up letters that are 300 plus pages long. (I'm looking at you 13 Reasons Why and Stargirl).
Third. I will probably find a way to use this book as part of a middle school unit on relationships leading up to the "big talk" about sex...

It was a beautiful story of young love, and the main character's view of the world was so refreshing. I understand it's supposed to be told in the millions of run on sentences but it was a bit too hard to grasp at times. I think 6th grade me loved this much more than current me, but that's all right. Good to know I've grown as a person. It started off a bit slow, and ended just a bit disappointing. I just wanted to know a bit more about the after, but I guess that's for us to decide
I'm going to try to keep my review brief... I did not like this book. At no point in the book was I enjoying the process of reading it. The relationship felt ridiculous and nonsensical, and I spent the entire 375 pages wondering "why did they get together in the first place??" This question was never answered for me. The lead character, Min, was pretentious and unbearable. And every time a character said she was great because she was different, I wanted to throw the book across the room. I hated the "prose", if that's what you call 2-page paragraphs of metaphorical crap that's nearly impossible to follow. What I'm saying is that I really didn't like this book at all. We clear?

Sadly this book wasn't as great as I thought it would be. It was an interesting writing style but it wasn't my cup of tea.
It is good, but it's kind of hard to keep up with what Min is saying most of the times because she makes reference to these films that I don't know.

I loved it so so so much. It made me hate and love the characters, I didn't feel identified with any of them, but sympathized for sure. Also, amazing illustrations! I love the story itself and how it was told.
If I'm completely honest, I didn't really expect to like this book as much as I do now. Everything felt so... Real. Not only the story, but the characters and their feelings and thoughts.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
