Jenner is great fun. His writing exudes the brilliance of his podcast or tv delivery. This is actually a superbly researched and excellent delivered look at the emergence of what it means to be celebrity and how this evolved into what we know today. It is very readable and most engaging. He intertwines tales with great aplomb to both entertain and inform. A thoroughly enjoyable read.

This was a wonderful look at the early days of celebrity using a number of celebrities to explore wide topics related to celebrity. If you're looking for in depth write-ups for each celebrity, you won't find that here, but the format used for this book managed to work rather well. It managed to be impressively balanced about celebrity culture with a sense of humor. The only drawback was that there were a few times I lost track of what a celebrity did as they were mentioned in passing and a few sections seemed slightly repetitive. Don't let that stop you from checking out this book, however! All the chapters were fascinating and this is worth a read even if you don't consider yourself much of a fan of celebrities.
