Similar to The Whispers- less of a thriller and more just character studies of the people involved. I felt more interested in these characters, as they were dealing with more than just motherhood. Heavy into how people deal with addiction.

This was such a good mystery/thriller. It took me a few chapters to get hooked, but once I was I could not put it down - seriously. The adult characters are actually of much more interest than the three teenagers named in the synopsis. I was desperate to figure out who the killer was right up until the end. It reminded me a lot of Defending Jacob which I also liked.

Sadly this one was a DNF for me, DNF @ 28%, page 90

After seeing early hype for Locust Lane in 2022, I was hoping this one would be a winner. However, I think it is a victim of mismarketing. This is not a thriller, it's a mystery with a character study in family dynamics much like Miracle Creek.

While  I loved a character study like Miracle Creek, Locust Lane fell short. I did not care to continue on in this one as the first 90 or so pages were all focused on the parents and some random man. All equally bad and annoying, their characters weren't worth carrying on studying.

I say pass!

Thank you Netgalley for providing a digital ARC.

Locust Lane
is a domestic mystery about privilege and power surrounding the murder of a young woman in an affluent suburb. Throughout, the story touched on social status, parenthood/family drama, racism and more. I enjoyed the use of multiple POVs to show how truth means different things to these different characters. That being said, you definitely need to focus in order to keep track of everything. It seems everyone may be guilty of something.
