Non sonoddi solito un lettore di fumetti ma zerocalcare e le sue vignette mi sono sempre piaciute, anche essendo Romano. Ho trovato questo libro affascinante, triste (in molte parti), informativo, divertente (in alcune parti, Zerocalcaremmolto abile nell'usare humor per affrontare temi difficili e presentare la sua narrazione come frutto della sua prospettiva). Mi ha dato curiosità di informarmi di più sulla storia del popolo curdo e di leggere fumetti simili

After reading more of Zero's blog and everything he stands for, Kobane Calling was the work from him that I wanted to read as soon as possible. After buying some of his published work, it took me a second to start reading it as I knew that was not going to be a way back after that.
Read in two days as there is a lot of emotions and things to digest. His storytelling and drawing are flawless as always, really manages to be mindful of everything.
I felt a lot of things and radicalised a lot of the ideas I already have. Do you know when you can already tell a book is going to change your life? I felt it whit this. I might not have understood everything that was covered in the reportage, as I am not a geopolitics expert, but I understood the heart bit.
In general, I felt very envious of both Zero and all the other people depicted here for having the balls to say and follow through with what they wanted to do. To find zen in the mayhem. The feeling of belonging somewhere, a place that you can point on a map.

Umanità
Non lo so che storie sono, quelle di queste persone. Non lo so se sono storie di eroi.
Non so manco come so' fatti, gli eroi.
Mi sembrano le storie di persone vere, normali.
Con le loro debolezze e contraddizioni.
Che nella vita inciampano, si rialzano, sbandano e si ripigliano.
Anime irrequiete, che non hanno trovato la strada giusta al primo colpo.
Note stonate, nella filarmonica perfetta del loro tempo.
E nonostante questo - o forse proprio per questo - ad un certo punto del loro cammino trovano il coraggio di rischiare ogni cosa per difendere ciò che è di tutti.
- E penso che se tra cent'anni qualcuno guarderà indietro ai giorni nostri, sarà il ricordo di queste anime che testimonierà che l'umanità esisteva ancora.
