What a disappointment this book was! I enjoyed Five Feet Apart, so I decided to give this one a chance. I know that it is a YA book, and thus is geared toward a younger reader. However, I read a lot of YA and that does not usually stick out to me. It did in this book. The writing itself is very juvenile, coupled with incredibly immature (even for their ages) and unlikable main characters - and a plot line that gets increasingly ridiculous. I almost didn't finish when I got to the first "plot twist" which was incredibly cliche', but I pressed on and am not really glad that I did. The second "twist" was utterly ridiculous, and completely unbelievable in the execution. I wish that authors would recognize that "instalove" is not only an awful story element - but also can be damaging to actual YA readers, who may believe this is the way real-life relationships actually should be. And then we get to the third “twist” - and I’m just disgusted with the absolute ridiculousness of it. If I hadn’t been listening to an audiobook, I would probably have thrown the book. There were just too many problems with this book to say that I even liked it at all - about the only thing of value in this book is the gorgeous cover.

An amazing book! I didn’t like all the cussing, but... otherwise I thoroughly enjoyed the book. The twists and turns of life, and the many near- death experiences only confirm that life is short and we all need to live and love!

All I can say is YES YES YES must read this book. Sooo good! I started reading this at first and I couldn’t get into it because it was so sad and depressing but I think the story is so incredibly beautiful and I’m so glade I have it another try because it’s now one of my favorites.

what a weird book LOL. ur telling me. UR TELLING ME. that kyle and his girlfriend broke up right before the car crash. she dies. he pretty much immediately falls in love w marley. they build a whole life together and he gets over his dead girlfriend within a year. he finds out his best friend was always in love w his dead girlfriend. but wait!!!!! he was in a coma for 8 weeks this whole time! his alternative life was just a dream— his girlfriend is alive and well! he’s obsessed w finding the girl from his dream! he believes he had a whole life w her and can’t separate his lives. he tells his friend to have his leftovers bc he is so obsessed with the idea of marley. guess what!!! she’s real!!! homegirl ended up finding him in the hospital and thought that the car crash victim was cute! she settled into his room and began telling him stories of their life together (which he dreamed about) and basically fell in love w a man in a coma bc of a story SHE articulated. he finds her and is like “our life” and THEY GET TOGETHER. HE BUYS HER A DOG BEFORE HE BREAKS OUT THE HOSPITAL. erm?????????? and i’m here thinking “is it just me or are these two so delusional like all of this came to bc she saw a car crash victim who she thought was attractive and even tho his (ex) girlfriend was visiting him and sleeping in his room yada yada she STILL TOLD HIM STORIES OF THEM TOGETHER. that’s insane!!! THATS INSANE!!!!!!! but wait !!!! she (marley) ends up getting hit by a car (the same way her sister died like 2 days ago) and then SHE is in a coma!!!! so guess what our male protagonist kyle does? he tells her a story about their dream life

This book made me cry. So many different times. I think I nearly cried every time I read it. Most definitely a 5 star book for me.
