It's 2021 no more "I'm not like other girls".

I got this book as an arc a while back. I enjoyed how the relationship between Mia and Luke developed over time. The story was a little too slow paced for me but it was still cute.

This book started off great! I am such a fan of Kathryn's writing. She has a knack for telling a story and creating intriguing characters who essentially go through a period of growth. The chemistry between Mia and the main male character was fantastic to read about.

The only two things I did not enjoy: The "she-is-not-like-other-girls" trope was so heavily emphasised in this story. It became a bit annoying. Secondly, I felt the story dragged on too long towards the end mainly due to Mia's insecurity. It felt like a vicious cycle that just would not break! And to top it all off they never truly talked her insecurities. It was a back and forth of: She gets upset by something out of his control. He doesn't know why. He is all cute, romantic and vulnerable. She ignores him until she realises she overreacted. It grated me! Just talk to the man!

So cute story, adorable premise but I must admit I enjoyed her previous book so much more.

♥️ Look I’m all for a slow burn but this one was so slow that at one point I forgot I was even in the middle of reading a book.

Favourite Quote: “I can’t promise not to get mad, but I can promise I will always stay and argue. I won’t run off.”

Tropes: opposites attract, pen pals, golden retriever MMC, slow burn, insta connection, 2 pov

So I saw this book on a post by one more chapter hc and I immediately thought of Taylor Swift you belong with me (swifties the vibe was there!) and I couldn’t stop myself from giving this book a go!

The characters were cute and easy to follow, loved the back story and the family elements, Mias sister a fave of mine for sure! Then the grace IYKYU 👀 she was just great I 100% thought she was someone else at the start and once it unraveled I started to piece the story together. Loved the whole independent FMC vibes they weren’t too strong but they fit the story so well. Luke and Pickles my heart he was definitely golden retriever cinnamon roll cuteness.

Not a fan of Freya but I guess that’s the point, I wonder if she gets her own story where she mellows out a bit? - definitely going to look into that!

I would 100% recommend this book if you’re looking for a HEA easy read romance with a cheeky bit of spice and a great set of characters! Xx

I have received this ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Mr Right Across the Street definitely had it's cute moments but I honestly couldn't overlook all the unnecessary drama and secrets. It was starting to get a bit frustrating dealing with half-truths and then the drama that unfolded right after it. I just don't understand why communication is so hard for people. Whether it's friendship or dating - please talk to one another!

Other than that, I will admit that I did like the idea of Luke being with Mia. Especially once all the secrets came out to play. It was pretty obvious that he kept things in and lived a personal life. As for Mia, she was okay and somewhat likable. I just feel like they both had a list of pros and cons with me. At times, I liked them and other times I just wanted to strangle them for being idiots.

In the end, I am glad that I got the chance to dive into this and finally found the time to do so. It was definitely cute.

Mia doesn't trust her judgment when it comes to men. She's had too many bad experiences.

Luke doesn't believe he's made for love. Plenty of women seek him out for casual affairs, and that's good enough for him.

When they meet, the attraction between them is undeniable. But can Mia get over her insecurities, given Luke's history as a player? And can Luke believe that he's worthy of the love of a woman who wants him for more than his body?

This is a slow-build, low-angst contemporary romance. If you like character-driven stories without much external plot, this book might be for you.

Thanks, NetGalley, for the ARC I received.
