I thought this book was outstanding. It has been called a modern To Kill a Mockingbird, and I can see why. I am not going to spoil the story by telling you anything about it, but the book will leave you moved and changed. Read it!
Student Reviews:
*Wolf Hollow is about how a girl named Annabelle is getting bullied by a girl named Betty. But that's not all, one day, Betty goes missing. Annabelle doesn't know how to feel, and even worse, everyone thinks Toby did it! Toby is Annabelles friend who fought in the war, lives in a shack, and walks around with three guns on his back. But he is kind, maybe a little antisocial, and odd. Annabelle will do anything to help her friend and spends the whole time being the only person in Wolf Hollow who believes in Toby. This book is a rollercoaster of emotions, accusations, and friendship. I definitely recommend this book to anyone who is willing to try it. –Ariana M., 6th grade 16-17
*The book Wolf Hollow is about a girl, Annabelle that faces challenges with another girl, Betty, because of the bad thing Betty did to Annabelle, her family faces problems with the police, most of the problem comes from some guy who is new to the town, Toby, Betty blames things that she did on Toby, of course since most people don't trust Toby or anything he does, they believe a 14 year old girl, this all happens because of something that Annabelle admits doing in the beginning of the book that she doesn't tell her parents. –Celina R., 6th grade 16-17

This book gave me the same feeling I got after reading To Kill A Mockingbird. Wolf Hollow is perfect to teach in a middle school and I definitely want it added into my curriculum.

I really enjoyed this book. It was like Anne Shirley meets Boo Radley. I thought it did a great job of touching on topics such as bullying, PTSD, family dynamics, without being heavy handed and in a middle grade appropriate way.
Wow! This has a little of everything: aftermath of war, friendship, family, bullies and telling the truth.
Lovely coming of age story set in the hills of western PA.
