The outcome was really surprising. Usually, authors don't have characters die like Lauren Wolk [a:Lauren Wolk|552351|Lauren Wolk|https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1487035865p2/552351.jpg] did Toby, or even Betty, but I think this time, it was powerful the way that she did. When I started reading it, I didn't think I was going to like it very much, but then, I really got into it.
This was a great young adult novel. It is set in the past in a small country town. The characters drew me in right from the start and I couldn't wait to see how the situation with the bully would be resolved. I loved it!
oh my goodness...... this destroyed me. i knew the spoilers beforehand *fp* but it still broke me. just- read it? please? it's a gentle story with to kill a mockingbird vibes, and the aesthetic was absolutely gorgeous and i just...... wow.
if you're a person who finds yourself easily triggered, i'd recommend treading carefully with this book. i know that for me personally, it left me feeling weighed down and anxious.
content warnings: mentions of learning how babies are made, some mild teen romance (it's in the background and could be easily ignored, suspicions that a man is a pedophile (he's not),, discussions of war

death by infection (mildly graphic), death by being shot (non graphic)
I really enjoyed this book. I think the end was a little rushed, but I would definitely recommend it. I'm giving my copy to my aunt for her middle school classroom and I think it'll get a lot of use there.
A solid 5 star book. The story, writing, character development, and sense of place are exceptional. This is children's or YA fiction, but the story is complex enough for adult readers. I couldn't put it down. Highly recommended.
4.5 ⭐️ Wolf Hollow is a wonderful coming of age story with a bright, fierce main character named Annabelle. Through her perspective we learn how life can be fair (or not fair), how it's important to stand up for your own convictions and for others, and how seeking the truth isn't always the easiest path. I thoroughly enjoyed this book.
