This was one of the very first erotic novels that I read and my first by Cherise Sinclair. I read it years ago and in the time since I've picked this book up multiple times. The connection and love between the main couple had such an effect on me that I'll randomly be draw to reread this again to relive their story.

As far as I can remember it was also one of the first books that I read where there was elements of angst thrown in and the main couple had to work for their relationship and fight for each other.

This author was referenced in an article, so here I am.
I see there's a whole series. At least this did answer a question about S/M relationships.

The lack of communication trope is accompanied by an issue that even when one partner does communicate, the other doesn't respect what they say. I hate that.

In the end, the "big reveals" come too late in the plot. Revealing the past earlier in the book would have given more space to develop a present relationship so I could imagine them having a plausible future.

Y'all need to sit right down there and read this book. NOW (said in Dom voice belonging to deVries). I am so excited that this book came out. And it's even better now that I've read it, cried with it, and giggled with it.

Lindsey is a good girl from Texas. But she's hiding something, and deVries knows it. Taking payment on a debt owed by her, he realizes there is more to this young submissive that others have told him. He's offended by her marrying a rich husband and then divorcing him. Lindsey is scared to death that "the Enforcer" is actually interested. After her debt is repayed she feels used and confused. But most of all, she's attracted to the sadist. WHAT?!?!?! Moving carefully forward they both discover that the truth isn't all it's cracked up to be.

Join the couples & singles from Dark Haven, as they protect one of their own.

Typical Miss Sinclair BDSM book. I do enjoy it OK. I wish for more sadistic BDSM lifestyle more. The plot is pretty flat. The sex scenes are hot.

The chemistrt is so so. Lindsey is typical damsel in distress. Needed a lot of saving.

Cherise Sinclair writes the best BDSM stories ever !
I loved this book because all the action doesn't take place in a BDSM club - like the Shadowland series does - and it's really refreshing to see the Doms and subs living an every day life outside the rules of a club.

I was a bit worried about Zander. Even if I love reading about BDSM I'm really not keen on the sado/maso part. I don't like to read about that or Master/slave (like a 24/7 slave I mean) but the dynamic of Lindsey and Zander was different (she's not a masochist thank God).

The only thing I don't like about this author's books is the lack of epilogues. I don't really like reading about a previous couple getting married or pregnant in another book because at this point I only want to read about the actual couple. Lindsey really wanted to have a family I'd have loved to witness that.

Good surprised, not that I have ever not like one of Cherise book. But S/M is nooooooot my thing, so I start, this book ready to not like it. Surprise surprise, I did like it. The S/M scenes were few and not what I expected.
