Dexter isn't quite himself in this book. I wonder if it's because he recently got married? Anyhow, he stumbles and bumbles his way through while a killer goes after his family. And he has another person clued into the fact he isn't normal like he tries to portray. And Sergeant Debs is in the hospital. This maybe another reason he's not his put together self. But he barely gets himself together and solves the problem. Plus it seems Dex is growing feelings.... Hmmm...
classic dexter. if you made it this far into the series, you’ll enjoy it. better than book three as it moved away from the supernatural direction of the dark passenger. i just love Dexter’s humor so much and used this to get me out of a slump.
Not sure yet how I feel about this one. It's the first Dexter book I've read, although I did watch the first few seasons on Showtime. Also, not sure why I chose to start with book 4, but anyway...
This book was ok. Lots of killing and maiming , pretty gross stuff, but what you would expect if you know anything about the series. I suppose the story is ok except for a part near the end that seems like a useless plot point. I mean, the characters spend a few chapters doing something that has no impact and doesnt drive any character growth.
So i would say this is an ok book. I'm going to try reading the first one just to compare.

Este libro va más en la línea de los 2 primeros, sin rollos místicos ni nada del rollo del tercero. Además, me ha gustado la colaboración Kyle-Dexter.
An improvement on the first three, but mainly because it was more like the show...
While a step up from Dexter in the Dark, it fails to match the character of Books 1 and 2. All throughout the book you feel like there's a big build up for a climatic finish and then in a dozen or so pages the story is wrapped up.
I'm glad Jeff Lindsay has ditched the supernatural tones from Dexter in the Dark but I just wish he had made the ending of this book a little more dramatic.

Better than book 3 but this was was so full of ….Dexter being dumb. I could see and predict everything miles away before actually getting to it.
