This novel dealt with the histories of Anne of Cleves and Katherine Howard. At first when I read the opening chapters I didn't think it was going to be as interesting as The Constant Princess or The Other Boleyn Girl, but it was almost as captivating and I found once again that it was hard to put down. The character of Jane Boleyn (George Boleyn's widow) was more fully explored. King Henry the VIII was an awful tyrant and obviously quite mad. I am looking forward to reading more of the Philippa Gregory novels.

They all deserved so much better.. especially Katherine Howard.. she was so young and naive..
Gosh I hated the Duke and Jane Boleyn

Her books are totally my guilty pleasure. 'Nuff said.

Continuing on with my forays through Henry VIII's court. I wish I could give this one a 3.5. I found it a bit circular at times, but I found the multiple perspectives neat and that's what kept my interest.

I felt like, despite her author's note, she tried to make Jane Boleyn more sympathetic than she actually was.

Whew, what a messed up time, best not to be noticed by the king if you were a pretty lady.
