Fantastic book, not quite as good as The Other Boleyn Girl but still a brilliant read. Have become hooked on Philippa Gregory's books.

This book was not as good as The Other Boleyn Girl. It seemed to drag at the end, going back and forth between the three women: Anne of Cleves, Jane Boleyn and Katherine Howard. Although I loved finding out what happened to King Henry‰ЫЄs next wives, the novel itself fell short for me.

I loved this one too. There was a little more trash sex scenes than I back-to-back I loved continuing to learn about this part of history. I am glad I had a big break between books though because I don't think I would have enjoyed it as much if I had read them back-to-back.
I really like the style that Philippa Gregory writes. Although it is definitely a fictionalized account of historical events it is easily believable.
As this is written from several points of view it is very interesting to see the opinions of each character about the others. Although this easily follows from The Other Boleyn Girl the style is different enough to keep from feeling like you are getting lost in a series.

As Philippa Gregory books went, it was engrossing and I enjoyed the perspective of Anne of Cleves, as well as the contributions of Jane Boleyn. Her portrayal of Katherine Howard made me face palm regularly - was the girl really that much of an idiot? Selfish, naive, self-centered, and greedy, not to mention surprisingly sexual in an era when a noble girl's virginity was the jewel in her crown? If so, then her downfall was guaranteed.
Nevertheless, I enjoyed the read.
