A simple but incredibly well written look at a women's love for her husband. The characters are very self aware, leading to a greater understanding and empathy for them.

The epilogue sold it for me. I loved this.

The entire time I was reading this I was thinking "this. lady. has. ISSUES" about the main character/narrator. I am partial to an unreliable narrator so this was fun for me. Very tense!

This lady has those crazy thoughts that we all occasionally have sometimes that we think about for a second and then realize, “No, that’s outrageous,” and push it aside. Like no, that person probably did not mean that passing comment to offend or hurt you, it was just a passing comment not meant to attack you. They probably don’t even know it bothered you! But she really dwells on these thoughts and internalizes them as the truth. Overanalyzing and spiraling.

But then, plot twist, it turns out in the end that this man does know what he’s doing to her! He is purposefully and intentionally perpetuating the cycle of abuse. These two are a match made in hell. I’m no psychiatrist, but they should both be diagnosed with something.
