I bought this book in my mid-twenties and finally read it my late thirties. It still scratches all those adventure fantasy itches all these years later. The movies got me interested, the show kept me interested, and I’m really glad I finally got around to the book cause it really redeems the lacking parts of its video counterparts.

I thought this was a really fun adventure. I'm disappointed that I didn't read it when I was younger, because I feel like I would've really enjoyed it in elementary/middle school, but reading it now was still pretty enjoyable.

i didn’t think that i’d enjoy this so much! but i truly did and im excited to read the next books <3 i would definitely be a child of hera, or apollo.

very pleasant read. the talk with luke was so badass, too. i’m amazed.

my favorite quotes/moments.

-

“You want to gargle with toilet water again, Clarisse? Close your mouth.”

-

“Yeah,” one of her siblings said. “But see, we don’t care about the flag. We care about a guy who made our cabin look stupid.”

“You do that without my help,” I told them. It probably wasn’t the smartest thing to say.

-

"I'm not saying hello to a pink poodle," I said. "Forget it."

"Percy," Annabeth said. "I said hello to the poodle. You say hello to the poodle." The poodle growled.

I said hello to the poodle.

-

“You’re pretty smug, Lord Ares, for a guy who runs from Cupid statues.”

-

“Oh,” he said. “Um . . . drowned . . . in the bathtub.”

“All three of you?” Charon asked.

We nodded.

“Big bathtub.”

-

Even here in the Underworld, everybody—even monsters—needed a little attention once in a while.

-

I pretended not to see Annabeth wipe a tear from her cheek as she listened to the mournful keening of Cerberus in the distance, longing for his new friend.

-

“More security ghouls,” he moaned. “Traffic problems at the judgment pavilion. Double overtime for the staff. I used to be a rich god, Percy Jackson. I control all the precious metals under the earth. But my expenses!”

“Charon wants a pay raise,” I blurted.

i’ve never read any of the percy jackson books and it wasn’t until recently that i decided to give them a try and i’m so glad i did!! this was such a fun and easy read. i listened to the audiobook and read along and found myself not wanting to pause it!

i had an inkling from the beginning that percy was poseidon’s son and that luke was the traitor he just seemed so suspicious but i did not see the whole kronos storyline coming at all! reading this book made we want to research greek mythology because it just made it seem so interesting lmao. anyways i love percy, grover & annabeth and im so excited to read the rest of the series <3

An easy read, easy to fall in too, but not to deep.
