Very dumb to read this considering I live in the middle of the woods.
I loved the idea of this book. It was tense and chilling. I liked the formatting quite a bit too. But the editing was so bad that it dropped my rating for the book by at least a full star. There were so many errors it drew me out of the book on nearly every page. 'Or' instead of 'of', 'the' instead of 'them', 'envelope' instead of 'envelop'. Victims' numbers being mixed up. Victims and invaders being mixed up. Over and over and over again. It drove me nuts. I think this book could've been amazing, but it just wasn't.

I wanted to like this one more, but it just didn't do it for me the way that I hoped. I would encourage anyone to give it a shot if you're interested, because it's an unsettling, unflinching home invasion story. Sometimes, though, you just don't personally connect with a book, and that's what happened with me.

4.5 stars rounded up. Super unsettling with an interesting concept and a critique on society’s penchant for realistic violence and fascination with true crime. Really thought-provoking and scary all at the same time. The beginning chapters really freaked me out as someone who lives in the suburbs and generally feels safe. I didn’t feel so safe after reading the opening pages of this book lol so I’d say very effective. I also liked the reference to the Saw franchise lol

Incredibly unsettling and certainly unique. But the POV the whole story takes place in is confusing and un-enjoyable, that’s what ruined it for me. This book could’ve been easily 100 pages shorter (and would’ve been better for it); due to the narration so many parts dragged on forever in side conversations and thoughts that either were repetitive or added no value.
