There’s a brightness at the core of this one that belies the bleakness of the cyberpunk-style megacorp dystopian setting, I think. Fast-paced and very enjoyable, with an anti-capitalist theme that I expect will work well for a lot of people.

not sure if i would've enjoyed it as much if i hadn't already read archivist wasp, but it was punchy and a good time and since i DID read archivist wasp, it feels like i've somehow been given things i didn't think i would ever get. precious

It takes a high degree of skill to make me—a person for whom watching other people play video games constitutes at least one of the outer circles of hell—enjoy a book with a Twitch(ish) streamer gamer of a protagonist. But with memorable characters, chilling corporate dystopia setting, and a fast paced plot, Kornher-Stace manages to pull it off.

This book was the perfect mix of “keep you on your toes” adventure and chill that I really enjoy in a book. As someone who enjoys listening to audiobooks while doing other things I really enjoy when a story has the perfect balance between keeping me engaged but also not causing me to feel completely lost if I miss a sentence or two.
The end definitely felt like it was set up for a sequel. At least I hope it did!

This is a great sci-fi book!
A mega corporation, water rations, electricity curfews, a video game people love to play, and a woman who uncovers a secret.

It has fantastic world building and covers so much ground!
