I’d shelve this as YA if the characters weren’t all grown
I'm middle of the road on this one. Interesting action and world building but riddled with info dumps and maybe too much overanalyzing and information. Although I did like the story and the writing, it's a good apocalyptic story, I didn't like the main character. I'm glad I gave it a try, just wish it had been a bit shorter.

Firebreak is a book that’s difficult to put down. It takes place sometime in a future where society as we know it has broken down, and rebuilt itself were life itself is under the control of two major corporations. Its dystopian vision of daily life, water rations, mega city overcrowding, and the constant struggle to just survive are the basic backdrop for this non- stop action adventure. Nichole Korner-Stace’s future vision may be frightening, but it could be prescient as well.
It felt like two different stories; the story of Mal & the water hoarding and of supersoldiers and marketed war feel like they don’t quite belong together.
