I was really tempted to give this book 2 stars. There are lots of unnecessary parts enough to make me a bit disappointed with Hannibal Rising and I think it actually could've been MUCH better. But then, I realise that I read the translated version and maybe that's why this doesn't really feel very satisfying. So maybe 3 stars until I read the english version.

La mayor fascinación de este libro es tener a Hannibal como único y total protagonista. Siento que fue un libro destinado casi totalmente a los fans.
Disfruté cada revelación y transformación de la vida de Hannibal.... Sin embargo, siento que no fue suficiente.
No es que el libro haya sido malo, en un contexto de libro autoconclusivo de novela negra sería genial y mucho mejor de los que existen actualmente. Sin embargo, se trata de uno de los antagonistas o anti héroe más fascinantes y complejos de la literatura y siento que me dejó con gusto a poco y que fue más que nada una aventura casi hollywoodense. Sentí lo mismo al ver la película, no hubo ese algo brillante y complejo que llevaba ascendiendo en toda su saga.
Quizás el autor planeaba hacer más libros, pero aún así éste aporta poco a lo que requiere la basta complejidad del personaje.
Me siento descepcionado, aunque la verdad, por la extensión del libro, no esperaba gran cosa. Lamentable en verdad. Solo espero que no sea el final de la saga y que el autor este preparando algo más para darle un desenlace digno de la construcción que ha podido hacer del doctor Hannibal Lecter.

God, it’s sad witnessing a bad work by a great writer.
This is the 4th Hannibal Lecter book written, but essentially a prequel of the other three books, and about Hannibal's time growing up in Lithuania during WW2 and surviving the Nazis. He watched his sister Mischa murdered and cannibalized by a group of deserters and then becomes hell bent on revenge. Entertaining read.
It is not necessary to read this book to complete the series as this doesn't really add much to what we already knew of Hannibal from the previous books but it was entertaining to read. Extra points for the killing of nazis in this.

A shame that it's such a downgrade story wise when this is probably the best written book in the series
This book is a bit boring in the beginning. I found myself wondering if this was a necessary addition to the series. But once Hannibal starts to become more Hannibal-like, my interest in what was happening picked up. However, it still wasn't exactly what I've come to expect with these stories and from this character. It just fell a bit flat for me, unfortunately.
