This book answers the question: How it all began. I actually enjoyed this one and couldn't feel sorry for or lose any sleep over the victims (or the bad ones at least). This book completes the series for me and I'm not reading anymore books about this character.

Was not as good as the first three, but still a phenomenal story.

3.75 stars...I still enjoyed this book but not as much as the others. This is the prequel to how Hannibal Lector became who he is, the backstory to hid upbringing in Lithuania, France and hoe he came to the US. It's definitely got a shock and awe feel to it. Lots a WWII/nazi occupation. Some parts were a little squeamish. As he hunts down the group of nazi sympathizers who killed his family and pillaged his home. I still think it's definitely worth a read getting to know your favorite cannibal/psychiatrist. Also you know I read it with my brain narrating Hannibal in Anthony Hopkins voice haha

DID NOT FINISH: 19%

Just dragged, so much slower than the other Hannibal Lecter books. Beginning almost read as an actual biography with how detached and monotonous it felt.
