I thought this was going to be a light/funny book about a dog, even with the fact that he was looking back on his life I could handle. I did not expect it to be a serious drama about a family. If I would have known that before starting it, maybe I would have been better prepared. I did like when the dog actually described his "dog life". I quit the book in the middle because I was so frustrated with the story-but since I can't quit a book picked it back up and finished it.
I thought this was a really sweet book and I was very invested in the court battle. Court stuff with kids hits close to home I guess. I don't like dogs at all and found myself skimming the racing stuff (unfortunately I was not driven to care about it which is too bad since I think a great book can do that), but I liked the book. I didn't find the quirky dog stuff that interesting but it did give it some flare and interest. Kind of in between 3 and 4 stars for me.

Enjoyable enough, and the insights into racing were kinda cool. But sooo paint by numbers, plot wise. Pablum, dressed up in a neat idea.
This book is wonderful and I have read it several times. It made me happy, angry, cry and laugh. Seeing the world through Enzo’s perspective is heart warming, funny, and beautifully written. I named my first dog Enzo after this book ❤️ RIP buddy

This book reads more like a screenplay than a book, and the new-agey feel-good positive thinking passages annoyed me.
The beauty and simplicity of this story overwhelmed me from the beginning. It's one of those books where, from the very first page, you know you are going to bawl your eyes out. And I did. I loved the dog as a narrator. Recommend.
