Growing up in a Hindu household, I learned about the Ramayana but never understood or liked Raam’s character. This book validated my childhood feelings about that mythological tale and felt like a breath of fresh air. While I know it’s fiction, I loved the feminist approach to such a patriarchal mythology. The pacing was a little uneven and the ending felt somewhat abrupt, but overall it was a great read. I’d definitely pick up another book by Patel in the future.

amazing character development, the pace of the book was perfect, got me out of a 5 year long reading slump even tho it was long as hell. very powerful
