I really enjoyed the first book and plan to finish the series. In fact, I actually like Magnus Chase more than Percy Jackson! I feel like Riordan really grew as a writer and had a lot more fun with the cast of characters, world building, and plot. This book is definitely more unhinged than the Percy Jackson books, but I really liked it!

I can't express how much I love Riordan's books. First I love all the mythologic characters and how they're protraied. I like how I can identify with the gods, not in a personal manner but like I know them from the stories, not like they are some random characters. Then I love how we get to see real problems in these books, even tho these end up being kinds but, and I talk for myself (obv) but when I read middle-grades books when I had that age they weren't like this. The characters have such dept and we can see them struggle and grow. The thing I love the most tho is how these books always make me laugh, it kind of feels like you never left these worlds, and these characters and I start this books and all I can think is "gods! how I missed them"

I've been meaning to read this book since it came out and I finally did, and I can say I'm not disappointed! I missed Rick Riordan so much! It was hard for me to get into it at the beginning because I don't know much about Norse mythology, I kept seeing Thor, Odin, and Loki like I see them on the Marvel movies, and I really missed the old characters. But after a little while I started enjoying the book, learning about this mythology, and actually loved some of the characters! I'm looking forward to continue this series!

This is similar to Percy Jackson, but also very different! I enjoyed the Norse mythology and the characters.
