I didn’t like the diffuse narrator; I didn’t think the perseverance on an old abortion or old flame as a result plot device was realistic However the prose on the teenage girls and how their characters unfolded was beautiful.

I was leaning a little toward 5-stars for this one, because it was really immersive and the story felt both unique and familiar. The characters are all very flawed but real and human. And the setting felt honest and mundane. It all wrapped together in a really well-done novel.
There were a few moments that interrupted the story in an odd way and confused the flow for me.
I was impressed by the author and would read more of her work, for sure.
