The first 50% was 5 stars, but it lost me in the last half. Basically all the banter and talk of prophecy and plot that I loved so much in the beginning disappeared, and the ending felt so rushed - there were like 3 pages of resolution after the climax. Lots of great potential but felt like the author just had a great idea for the beginning of a story but no plan on where to go after that. This is not a standalone, but I'm not sure I'll be rushing to read the sequel when it comes out.

While reading this I had a good time. There is a lot of action and things moving the story forward. The world is really interesting and the set up of everything was nice.
The FMC is so stubborn, it’s infuriating at times. The MMC is so secretive it’s hard to get anywhere. The things that happen in this book don’t move the plot forward, only the pages. At the end of this I can’t say we learned anything or made any progress to anything.
The romance was pretty unbelievable. They hardly spent any time together, when they did they just fought constantly. There was no gradual changing of opinions.
I’m intrigued enough by the world and potential story that I will probably read on, but I don’t recommend this for most people.
