I'm giving these two stars only because I like the author--otherwise, I'd give it a negative 1 star if I could.
Let me start off by saying that I hated these characters, they were all horrible people that didn't deserve an HEA. The FMC is the most selfish person ever. First of all, she immediately shows her internalized misogyny when she constantly refers to sex work as "hooker" and "whore" before eating her words and becoming a high-end escort herself, but yet she talks about her numerous one night stands as if it gives her a free pass *insert eyeroll here*
Secondly, James asks for personal details like her real age, etc, and without question, knowing that's the number 1 thing they're not allowed to share--she tells him. She didn't make him work for it at all, it's no wonder he got away with manipulating her throughout the entire book--she makes it so easy.
Additionally, her entire reason for taking the job is that she wanted to be able to care for her grandmother--meanwhile, she doesn't even interact with her aside from send her money and take her out to eat once. Just say you like the money for yourself and quit acting like you're doing it for some greater reason *insert second eyeroll here*
And can we talk about what a horrible person she is for leading this poor guy on knowing from the jump that she really didn't even like him, but somehow ends up making him her bf?! The only thing he asks is that she doesn't sleep with anyone else-but it doesn't count because she's getting paid for it apparently. Zero honesty on her part, throughout the entirety of that relationship, poor guy wasted so much time and energy on her dumb ass for nothing.
I'm sorry but I feel zero sympathy for Aubrey. ZERO. Natalie was 100% justified it making her feel like shit when she finds out not only has she been banging her dad this entire time knowing he was very much married, but then she proceeds to accept his offer AFTER learning that he's her best friend's dad!! and spare me with the "my friendship means more to me than a romantic relationship"..whatever helps you sleep at night.
and lets talk about James--what a giant piece of shit that poor excuse of a man/husband/father was. He tells his daughter to her face how he wished her mother would've aborted her..and tells Aubrey she's a whore WHEN HE LITERALLY PAYS HER TO BE HIS "WHORE"..but somehow, knowing nothing about this man aside from what his dick tastes like, we're supposed to believe that these two people are actually meant to be? Their relationship was laughable at best. Natalie forgiving her at the end and basically asking her to continue banging her dad again-only in a fkn book. That was probably one of the most unrealistic things I've ever read.
The HEA was a joke and I'm definitely not reading a bs novella to see them potentially having a legitimate healthy relationship. I hated this book and don't understand why it's so loved. Literally any other age-gap/billionaire romance is better. I almost wanna sue for emotional distress because this book had me heated af. Read at your own risk

The spice was a bit excessive for me but I’d be lying if I didn’t love the characters. Aubrey and her Grammy moments melt my heart and reminds me of my grandma.
James Riviera is top tier age gap book boyfriend. I have no idea why I put this book off for so long, it was absolutely amazing. Lucia's writing and story telling is some of the best I have ever read.
Aubrey is a hard working college student who at the recommendation of her bestfriend and roommate takes a job as a high price escort, here she meets James and it is fire, steam and all the feelings.
Aubrey has a beautiful relationship with her grammy and her best friend Nat. Of course in true Lucia fashion there is a JAW DROPPING twist in the book. I full out gasped I couldn't believe it.
If you have put this book off, don't any longer. Trust me it is SO WORTH IT!

This book broke me, but then put me back together.
After reading the off balance series, I knew I had a one click author with Lucia Franco, and I was right.
Hush Hush is one of my favourite tropes of an age gap romance. It’s also a forbidden romance.
We meet Aubrey who is studying and working two jobs to help her Grammy, and herself to be able to live.
Aubrey lives with her best friend Natalie, who comes from a very wealthy family.
Natalie tells Aubrey about the job she does, and how much money she makes. This makes Aubrey think about her choices.
But does she give up the normal jobs for something a little less normal?
Aubrey finds herself in a difficult situation when she meets James, she shouldn’t like him, she shouldn’t enjoy and look forward to his company, and she definitely shouldn’t develop feelings for him.
This book is told from Aubrey’s POV and it is hot! I really wanted to savour this story, I didn’t want it to end. Thank goodness for the novella of Say Yes which follows this book, otherwise I’d cry even more than I did during this book.
If you are on the fence about this book, just go and read it, I promise you will love it!

slow-paced
first quarter of the book was boring, dropped it and then pick it up again and LOVED IT!!!!!! it was so unexpected fr minus 0.5 because of the age gap and it’s her friend’s dad but i still love the book i close one of my eyes for this
These are deeply flawed and selfish characters but as the reader, reading the train wreck- All the stars for impeccable writing.
We’re talking about cheating, lying, keeping secrets, being a sex worker while keeping it a secret from her partners. Those two partners weren’t aware she was sleeping with both men. AND then some. So many lies and secrets. One MMC is married. And it’s all a hot mess.
Aubrey is tired of struggling to make ends meet and wants to give her Grammy more than what she has. After all,Grammy is the one that raised Aubrey and now wants to take care of her .. and her cats.
Aubrey’s bestie and roomie admits she’s an escort and gets Aubrey to try it too.. and the downhill disaster starts.
Being a sex worker she’s meets many men. Some great, others not so but a silver fox James stands out. A married man. A flawed man. I honestly didn’t like his character. He never took No as an answer and became stalkerish.. and not the sexy kind.
Aubrey also starts dating an innocent doctor and strung him along keeping her second identity a secret from him. It was heartbreaking to see him fall for her and she was using him to feel “normal.”
Aubrey and James set up a deal to keep hooking up and they were catching feelings… alas.. Aubrey never dumped the boyfriend nor quit her job as a sex worker which James required.
I’m telling you these characters are all selfish assholes but the storyline and the writing was absolutely fantastic. I couldn’t stop reading. I had to see Aubrey’s world crash and boy oh boy. It does.
It’s a coming of age story. It’s about making mistakes. Learning to stop being selfish and messing with other peoples hearts and emotions. It’s about discovering yourself. Gotta lose it all to gain something new.
“Every day when I step out of the apartment to meet a client, I wonder why Jesus is walking next to me when the Devil is right behind me."
The Devil catches up to Aubrey and serves her a nice slice of humble pie.
As much as I thought the characters were pieces of shit (lmao) - I loved this book. I’ll be continuing the duet asap.
