I love the ideas in this story but I want more dialogue between the characters and for the information not to be dropped in exactly when the main character needs it even when it’s something that happened months prior in book!

Re-read of a childhood favorite. Absolutely loved it!!! And I totally squealed when George showed up-- my first fictional crush.

I do see some faults now that I wouldn't have noticed when I was younger-- super quick pacing, Alanna being OP at everything through hard work and always knowing who the enemies are, etc., but it really isn't that big of a deal when considering the audience. Most pre-teens would get bored reading a huge tome which this could have been since it encompasses 4 years of Alanna's life.

I am very excited to continue reading the rest of the series-- yet very anxious as well. Hoping for the best!

Loved this book as a kid. Still holds up as an easy, nostalgic read.
