“There are some things in life we can never understand, things we are better off not understanding.”

I really enjoyed the final installment in The Sage of Larten Crepsley. It lived up to the hype surrounding its fulfilling background of Mr. Crepsley to the point where I wouldn't mind reading future related series surrounding other character's backgrounds (Vancha, Mr. Tiny, etc.).

The ending was very surprising - I can't say I was expecting that.

If you liked Darren Shan's Cirque Du Freak series, then I definitely recommend picking up this series. I mean, I did finish both series (16 books) in less than two months so it must be good!

I enjoyed the end of the series but I am not convinced that Shan needed to add real world events and people to the Saga. If he had alluded to certain events and people rather than coming right out and identifying them (like the Nazis, Hitler or Paris, France) I believe the book would be more timeless and mysterious (much like the allusions to real events and people in World War Z). That is my only complaint and I am sad to reach the end.

Great ending to the series. Darren Shan is such a good writer; able to tell an in depth story with great characters but in a fairly short book.
