S Is for Silence

My first Sue Grafton book. Definitely not the last.I loved the way it contrasts to male writers mystery books. There aren't real gross scenes or detailed description of how the crime took place, yet the suspense was there.
It described the results of beauty and poverty combination. As well as greed. I liked the way each character was given a chapter to convince us of his being a suspect, while giving an insight to his life and motives.
It was easy to imagine and live the era of the novel, and actually sympathize with Violet inspite of her actions.
This book introduced me to a new author, and I enjoyed it so much that I was encouraged to by the next one in the series, which didn't turn out as much fun.

I could be wrong but there was one around here I absolutely loved and think it’s this one.

Not bad, I've aways liked her books and am determined to see the end of the alphabet. I started the next one, it's a little slow.

Fair book along the same lines as others in the letter series

My least favorite of the whole series.

I feel like 19 books into a series of 26 is a really bad place to introduce a completely new style/writing element. Grafton wrote this book with a lot of flashbacks from different characters' POV, which she's never done in this series before. It felt really weird, and I didn't feel like it was worked in very well. Aside from that it was a good story, if you can ignore the heavy misogyny in this one, I just hated the way she did that.
