I found this a little hard to get into at first, but once I did, it just opened up and flowed. Camus takes a practical approach to explaining absurdism and tells the reader how an absurd life is lived and how it is not. He gives examples that you can use in your own life, he gives credit to other authors who he draws from, he compares philosophers so you can think on your own as to whether you agree with him or not.

When you get to the section labeled The Myth of Sisyphus, you are right there in it. The whole thesis comes together and it is easy to understand why he uses this tale as a parable for absurdism. This is very much the introductory text into his philosophy and I find myself eager to push on and read The Rebel and his other work to more fully understand his point of view and see how it compares and contrasts to my own.

Not too much new here in terms of thoughts, but they are very well laid out. I think because it’s a bit older the ideas have been used and expanded upon a lot.

took me a while but honestly a great read all around

Camus finds purpose in the struggle and lifts humanity out of futility and into dignity.
