“Art can never be so well served as by a negative thought. It’s dark and humiliated proceedings are as necessary to the understanding of a great work as black is to white”

The majority of this essay unfortunately didn’t keep my attention. Much of it felt like a repetitive rambling that could have been condensed into about 20 pages. While I didn’t enjoy this nearly as much as The Stranger, it was extremely thought provoking.

When Adam Levine dm’d that girl that her body was absurd he was referring to Camus’s assertion that to exist at all is absurd, that to have a body is to reject the meaninglessness of the universe, and that the highs and lows of consciousness are in themselves meaning enough

I actually really enjoyed the overall philosophical feel of his interpretation of the myth and the other stories. It really opens your eyes and makes you ponder the sentences and questions posed by Camus.

4.5 I think I disagree more than slightly about the state of God and whether belief is part of the absurd or not. But otherwise a fantastic philosophy.
