This was an amazing story. While fictional, this was based off the real events of Holocaust survivor Jack Gruener. I recommend this book to anyone who likes history and would want to get an idea of some of the horrors that went on in one of the darkest periods of history. While heartbreaking that so many innocent lives were lost due to hatred and a mad man in power, this shows us that even in the face of evil and cruelty beyond belief, there are still those who show humanity and help each other survive.
