This one MOVED, I had to know what happened, though I guessed correctly on some of it.

After a lifetime of being on the run, an accident that kills her mother leaves Harlow Ford with a handful of clues to the mystery that is her past, and the burning desire to find answers to an ever-growing number of unanswered questions that haunt her.

There are some plot points I could get nit-picky about if I were to get into spoilers, and I think it could be argued that there was one more twist than absolutely necessary, but instead, I'm just going to say: that was a good read.

I was thoroughly engaged throughout the story; and, while I may have predicted some of the ending relatively early on, I was still surprised by some of the revelations.

There's a few examples of sapphic representation here, but as far as the main story is concerned, it did feel a bit insta-lovey. I do wish it had felt a bit more earned, but given the circumstances the main character finds herself in, I guess I can forgive some elevated emotions.

While definitely a mystery and thriller, it's also an exploration of the bonds of family - and what it means when those bonds are broken.

Which brings us to some trigger warnings:
⚠️ child abuse (mostly implied, briefly described)
⚠️ intergenerational trauma

Rating: 4.5/5

The main character Harlow, was missing substance, and depth.
The reason why Harlow’s mom kept them on the run, was because she had some man create fake ID’s for her and Harlow. But then she couldn’t afford the full cost so she kept running. Personally I didn’t feel like that was a good enough reason to be on the run, and have all these different fake names and personalities. On top of that, the major plot twist is that Harlow’s mom was actually her sister, but the other 2 sisters (Harlow’s aunts) killed their mom on accident because she was abusive all while Harlow was a baby, being held by her mom.
The story dragged on and it was a pretty disappointing read. Glad I was able to finish reading this quickly .
